Ordering custom guitar cases or gig bags from a factory is a partnership — and like any partnership, it works when both sides verify the details. This checklist comes from our own production floor and covers what a brand should confirm before and during an OEM/ODM order.
Before You Order
- Material samples: confirm PU leather, microfiber, fabrics and foam on physical samples — photos do not show hand feel or color accuracy.
- Color matching: agree on a color standard and keep a signed reference sample.
- Size confirmation: a fit sample with a real instrument is worth more than any dimension sheet.
- MOQ and lead time: confirm minimum order quantity and production schedule in writing.
During Production — Key Checkpoints
Materials
Verify the fabric denier (e.g. 1680D vs 600D), foam thickness and density, and that the shell material matches the approved sample. Check that waterproof coatings are applied evenly.
Stitching
Inspect stitch density (stitches per inch), seam strength at stress points, and whether double stitching is used on handles and strap loops. Pull-test a handle: it should hold far beyond normal use.
Hardware
Zippers should run smoothly without snagging across the full length. Buckles and clips should have a positive lock. Check that hardware finishes match — mixed finishes are a common batch defect.
Padding and Neck Support
Cut open a sample if needed: padding thickness should match the spec, and the neck cradle must be present and correctly positioned.
Inspection and Shipment
- Require a pre-shipment inspection (AQL sampling) and agree on defect thresholds.
- Check packaging: individual poly bags, corner protection and export cartons with correct carton dimensions and weight.
- Keep one approved sample as the shipment reference — it settles most disputes before they start.
Working with Our Factory
MONOGUITARBAG operates its own factory, so materials, stitching and quality control stay under one roof. We provide material samples, fit samples and pre-shipment inspection records as standard for OEM and ODM orders. Start a project or request a sample.
