Guitar cases and straps take years of sweat, dust, rain and car boots. With simple, regular care they keep looking good and keep protecting your instrument. Here is a material-by-material care guide.
PU Leather and Synthetic Leather
- Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap; avoid solvents and alcohol.
- Dry away from direct heat; do not machine wash.
- Store away from strong sunlight to prevent color fading.
- For scuffs, use a dedicated synthetic-leather cleaner, then condition with a non-greasy conditioner.
Microfiber and Fabric Shells
- Brush off dust with a soft brush; spot-clean with a damp cloth.
- Waterproof-coated fabrics (like 1680D with PU coating) can be wiped clean easily.
- If the whole shell needs cleaning, hand wash only — never machine wash or tumble dry.
Genuine Crazy Horse Leather
Crazy horse leather is finished with oils that give it an aged, matte look and let it develop a natural patina. That patina is part of the character — it is not damage.
- Wipe dust off with a dry cloth; oil marks and fingerprints can be gently buffed away.
- Condition once or twice a year with a leather conditioner designed for oil-tanned leather.
- Avoid soaking the leather in water; dry any spills immediately.
Zippers, Hardware and Straps
- Keep zipper tracks clean and run a zipper wax or candle over them if they get stiff.
- Wipe metal buckles and hardware to remove sweat and prevent corrosion.
- Check stitching at stress points (strap ends, handle mounts) periodically — catch wear early.
Storing Cases Long-Term
Keep cases in a dry, ventilated room away from radiators and damp basements. Store instruments in the case with the neck supported, and close the lid fully to keep dust out. Avoid stacking heavy items on top of gig bags.
Quality materials make maintenance easy: our cases and straps use PU leather, microfiber and 1680D waterproof fabrics built for years of use. Browse the strap range or contact us with care questions.
