Acoustic Guitar Gig Bag Sizing Chart: 3/4, Dreadnought, Jumbo and Classical

One of the most common OEM questions we get is: what sizes should a gig bag line cover? The answer depends on your target market, but a well-planned line covers at least these four acoustic profiles.

3/4 and 1/2 Size Guitars

Student guitars and travel guitars need compact bags around 36-38 inches total length. These are the volume sellers in school markets.

Dreadnought

The dreadnought is the classic full-size acoustic, requiring approximately 41-42 inch bags with deep lower bouts. This is the core size of any acoustic line.

Jumbo and Auditorium

Jumbo bodies need extra depth; auditorium shapes fit standard dreadnought bags. If you sell to gigging players, cover both.

Classical (Nylon String)

Classical guitars are shorter and wider at the waist. Never substitute a steel-string bag. Dedicated classical bags have different proportions and headstock cradles.

Sizing Checklist for OEM Buyers

  • Total interior length in inches
  • Lower bout width and depth
  • Neck and headstock cradle type
  • Padding zones (headstock, neck, lower bout)
