Bass Guitar Case Buying Guide: Hard, Semi-Hard and Gig Bag Options

Bass guitars are long, heavy and vulnerable — a broken headstock or a dented body can take an instrument out of commission for weeks. Choosing the right case is essential protection for any bassist.

Hard cases give maximum protection for touring and shipping. A wooden or fiberglass shell with plush interior cradles the instrument, and locking latches keep it secure. Expect to pay more and carry more weight.

Semi-hard cases offer a middle ground: a rigid frame wrapped in padded fabric. They are popular for gigging bassists who need speed and light weight without sacrificing the core protection of a hard shell.

Gig bags are best for local shows and practice. Look for at least 15mm of high-density foam, a reinforced headstock area and padded backpack straps. Some premium models add a waterproof outer layer for outdoor festivals.

Our factory manufactures bass guitar cases across all three types. OEM and ODM programs are available with custom padding, hardware, branding and interior layouts designed around your exact bass models.
