How to Choose the Right Electric Guitar Case Size

Ordering a case for your electric guitar should be simple, yet sizing mistakes are one of the most common reasons for returns. Here is a practical guide to getting the fit right the first time.

First, measure your guitar from the top of the headstock to the bottom of the strap button. Most standard electric guitars sit between 96 and 102 cm. If you play a Fender-style instrument, a case with a 100cm interior will be comfortable. Gibson-scale models are slightly shorter, around 98cm.

Next, check the body depth. Double-cutaway guitars like the Stratocaster sit close to the body, while single-cut models need extra depth for the thicker body and the neck angle. A case with adjustable neck rests can accommodate both shapes.

Finally, consider headstock shape and tremolo. Guitars with Floyd Rose or Bigsby systems need deeper headstock cavities. Always choose a case with a plush-lined interior that hugs the contours without forcing the guitar into position.
