Keyboard Case Guide: Sizing for 61, 76 and 88-Key Instruments

Keyboard cases fail when the key count assumption is wrong. Sizes vary by keybed length and depth — measure before you buy.

Key counts and lengths

  • 61 keys: ~37-40 in long, shallow.
  • 76 keys: ~45-47 in long.
  • 88 keys: ~50-54 in long; slim models shorter.

Depth matters

Workstations with sliders and pitch wheels are deeper than stage pianos. Check interior depth against your instrument.

Bag vs case

  • Gig bag: lightweight, padded, daily use.
  • Semi-hard: better drop protection, still light.
  • Flight case: aluminum frame, touring and shipping.
