Choosing the right case material is the most important decision in a guitar case product line. Here is how Carbon Fiber, ABS, and Wood compare from a factory and buyer perspective.
Carbon Fiber
Lightest option (typically 1.5-2.5 kg lighter than wood), highest strength-to-weight ratio, excellent temperature stability. Premium price point, ideal for airline travel and high-end electric/acoustic lines.
ABS / Molded Plastic
Affordable, waterproof, impact-resistant, consistent quality. Good for mid-range lines. Modern molded ABS with TSA latches is the industry workhorse.
Wood (Plywood / Birch)
Classic look, excellent structural rigidity, great for vintage-inspired designs with tweed or leather covering. Heavier, needs careful moisture control. The retro aesthetic sells well in the US market.

What We Recommend
Most brands build a three-tier lineup: carbon fiber for the flagship, ABS for the workhorse, and tweed-covered wood for the heritage line. Malostation manufactures all three. Tell us your target retail price and we will spec the right combination.
