Acoustic Guitar Case Sizes: Dreadnought, Auditorium, Classical and 12-String

Acoustic guitars come in more shapes than most buyers realize, and each shape needs the right case interior. Here is a sizing guide for retail planning.

The Core Sizes

  • Dreadnought: the standard – most ‘acoustic case’ searches mean this
  • Auditorium / OM: slightly narrower lower bout
  • Classical (nylon-string): wider waist, shorter scale – needs its own interior
  • 12-string dreadnought: same body, deeper headstock pocket for wider peghead

Why Interior Fit Matters

A dreadnought in an OM interior rattles; a classical in a steel-string case rests on the bridge. Mismatched interiors are the #1 cause of returned cases.

Line Planning

Stock dreadnought as your volume SKU, classical as your second, then OM and 12-string variants. Each needs a correctly cut foam cradle. We keep molds for all four shapes.
