Leather vs PU Leather for Guitar Straps: What Buyers Should Know

When sourcing guitar straps, the leather question comes up in every RFQ. Here is what we tell buyers after years of making straps in our own factory.

Genuine leather offers natural texture, ages beautifully and develops character, ideal for premium branded lines. PU leather delivers consistent color, easy care and a controlled cost – perfect for retail programs with tight price points.

For stage use, we recommend crazy horse or distressed leather straps from $65 retail. For student programs, premium PU with padding from $20 retail works well.

Whichever material you choose, ask for the strap width, thickness and hardware finish – these three details decide the comfort and the premium feel of your final product.
