5-8mm — lightweight gig bags
Protects against scratches and light bumps. Best for home use, storage and short car trips. Packs small and weighs almost nothing.
10-15mm — padded gig bags and semi-hard cases
The sweet spot for gigging. Protects against knocks, drops from waist height and weather. This is what most working musicians choose.
15-20mm — heavy-duty protection
For touring, shipping and airline travel. Thick foam plus a rigid shell deflects serious impacts. Heavier, but the safest option.

- Student line: 5-8mm gig bags, low cost.
- Mid line: 10-15mm padded bags.
- Premium line: 15-20mm semi-hard and hard cases.
