Guitar Case Materials Guide
A quick reference for brands and buyers choosing case materials. Every material below is used in our own factory production.
1680D Ballistic Nylon
The workhorse of gig bags. High-density 1680D weave with a PU waterproof coating resists abrasion and rain. Light, packs flat, wears clean. Used for most touring gig bags.
PU Leather and Faux Leather
Premium look for retail lines. Soft hand-feel, wipe-clean surface, available in vintage two-tone distressed finishes and fashion colors. Heavier than nylon; best for carry-and-store use.
Microfiber Suede
Soft lining material used inside premium cases to protect guitar finishes. Also used on the exterior of luxury gig bags where a matte, non-reflective surface is wanted.
Canvas (Waxed and Coated)
Classic, rugged look. Coated canvas resists water better than raw canvas. Heavier than nylon. Popular for acoustic guitar bags with a heritage aesthetic.
ABS Molded Shell
Rigid protection for hard cases. Vacuum-formed ABS resists impacts and is light enough to carry. Often paired with plush interiors and storage compartments.
Fiberglass Hardshell
Strongest lightweight shell material. Used for professional flight cases and premium hardshells. More expensive to produce; justified for high-value instruments.
Crazy Horse Leather
Oil-tanned leather that develops a natural patina with use. Used on straps and premium accessories. Ages beautifully and commands a higher retail price.
