Starting an OEM or ODM guitar case project is a big step for any brand. To get it right, you need to understand how factories work: how sampling is done, what minimum order quantities (MOQ) look like, how long production takes and how quality is controlled. This guide walks through each stage.
1. Design and Specification
Send your design files — dimensions, materials, hardware, logos and packaging requirements. If you do not have a design, an ODM factory can develop cases based on proven existing molds, which lowers cost and risk.
2. Sampling
Factories typically build one or two samples before mass production. A production-quality sample confirms the fit, material hand-feel, zipper and hardware quality, and printing or embossing accuracy. Always approve a sample in writing before production begins.
3. Minimum Order Quantity
MOQ varies by case type. Simple soft gig bags can start lower; hard cases and flight cases with molds usually require larger quantities. MONOGUITARBAG supports low MOQs for first orders and offers tiered pricing as quantities grow.
4. Materials and Certification
Confirm the outer material (PU leather, microfiber or canvas), padding thickness, interior lining and hardware. For EU and US markets, chemical compliance matters — ISO 9001 quality management, REACH restricted substances and OEKO-TEX textile confidence are the certifications buyers expect. Ask your factory for documentation.
5. Production and Lead Time
Typical lead time is 20–45 days depending on case type and order size. Flight cases and complex interiors take longer. A reliable factory communicates milestones: materials in, cutting, sewing, assembly, packing and inspection.
6. Quality Control
Pre-shipment inspection should check stitching, zipper function, hardware attachment, padding placement, dimensions and packaging. A factory with in-house QC and a 50+ staff production team can offer stricter checks on request.
